Can't get into tap

My bathroom mixer tap decided today that it would not turn off and instead ran constant hot water

I've blanked off the pipes and taken the tap off, hoping I would find a washer that had gone that could be easily replaced

Instead I found this - doesn't seem to be room to fit a tool in to turn the hex nut

I wonder whether the ring around / above it could come off but it seems fairly solid

Anyone seen anything like this or is it just time to bite the bullet and get a new tap?

You pivot it up to let water out - it's in the 'up. position in the pic actually.

It spins around for hot/cold

What sort of gap do you have between the brass nut and the tap body ??

I've managed it - the circular bit above it unscrewed with a bit of force applied

I now know what has happened - I have the cartridge and it's very split though you can't see it on the image

Any idea where these might be sourced from?

I've done a bit of detective work and found the part number on a US site

Which when copied into Google led me to an ebay supplier in Burnley so I'll take the gamble for a tenner. Only one other supplier I found which was £25.

The tap is a pain, had to search long and hard for replacement flexible pipes as they are non UK standard sizes

Suspect the owner we bought from sourced it from overseas
