Hi,

Thank you in advance for any help on this.

After 10 yrs a tenant has just left, just like that….

He has left a number of issues including the fact that we can’t currently find the gas meter.. (!)

He has closed the account with Npower – we have contacted them and they’ve mentioned we should contact Covent Energy Ltd? (We cant find their details)

Thank you

If there was a gas meter and it has been removed or relocated by anyone other than the gas transporter company ( Cadent , previously National Grid ) then you need to check with the gas transporter company. If the tenant did move or remove or bypass the meter then there maybe potential dangerous pipe work on the property

There is a new supplier started trading called Covent Energy

Pursuant to section 7B(9)(c) of the Gas Act 1986 (“the Act”), the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (“the Authority”) hereby gives notice that on 19 September 2016 a gas supply licence was granted under section 7A(1) of the Act to Covent Energy Limited (company number 09256482) whose registered office is situated at c/o Hentons, 118 North Street, Leeds, Yorkshire, LS2 7PN, United Kingdom, authorising it to supply gas to any non-domestic and domestic premises situated in Great Britain.

Or maybe if
we have contacted them and they’ve mentioned we should contact Covent Energy Ltd?
was by telephone then the company mentioned was possibly Cadent but this was mis-heard to be Convent or Covent

Our electricity meter at work was in a box under the pavement in the street. The local council created a large pedestrianised area under smart new polished marble paving having concreted over the box. They refused to dig it up again so the supplier had to put in a new meter inside, having estimated the reading on the old one. So there it will remain, until one day someone digs it up again.
