Hi all, replacing some worn out caps on a TV, I`m obviously familiar with the spec of the cap i.e 1000uf 25V 105C etc but also written on the cap is this....

505B(M)

written on a similar 1000uf 25V 105C is....

504D(M)

What does this mean? Ta!

Not really applicable , they are most likely just a std cap.

Can you post a pic?
what is the manufacturers name on them?

I dont know how to decode those numbers but electrolytics are also typified as maximum working temperature and also series resistance and also maximum AC current.

It might relate to that.

Because they are so cheap if you are just replacing a few then getting the higher temp rating would not do any harm.

Be aware that larger caps for smoothing, switch mode PSUs or field scan on CRTs may have special ( better ) specifications so replacing them with standard components may not give very long service.
