ok, ill wrap some PTFE tape round the loo rolls before i compress them together, then tape them afterwards just to be sure.

OK, yes you can cap off the pipe yourself if you are competent to do so and can perform the required safety tests. And there is no requirement to prove competence other than doing the job correctly.

No, its a meter to measure how well a man's equipment works!

But I cannot give a full description of how it works on an open forum but if anyone needs further information they can ask in the limited access part of the forum for gas engineers.
