duct tape is prob better.

PTFE tape it works a treat on compression fittings

OK, yes you can cap off the pipe yourself if you are competent to do so and can perform the required safety tests. And there is no requirement to prove competence other than doing the job correctly.

No, its a meter to measure how well a man's equipment works!
