We are going to have our fireplace and front of chimney breast removed to put a range cooker in.
Part of the estimate for the building says that 'assuming the chimney is capped off'.
The fireplace currently runs a gas fire. How will I know if the chimney is capped off? What trade will do this if not? (builder, chimney sweep). I have also heard it is a good idea to get the chimney swept before such work, is this true?
Many thanks
