Car Question

I thought Freddy's was a wild guess, this doesn't look anything like the pictures I'd seen of the early Metro project, but now I've Googled it there were several wersions, this being one of them.

Apart from the grille, which looks like something from an old Russian or similar Eastern Block vehicle, this is probably better looking than the actual Metro that was released.

Reminds me of a mk1 vw polo.

Yes, when I first looked at it, my first thought was small 70s VW.

Then as soon as I looked at the shape of the driver's door window and the windscreen, as well as the outline of the rear wing/corner of the bodywork above the rear bumper, the shape was definitely Princess wedge. Also from Mr Mann's drawing board.

Glad I'm not the only anorak on here!

ADO is for Austin Drawing Office.

There was some rivalry at BL between the marques. Morris particularly preferred to use another word because they were not keen on the fact that their cars were drawn up in the Austin office...

Anorak ? - Please - old car connoisseur !! :D :D

I quite like he look of it, and judging by the amount of cars it lookedlike, so did a lot of other designers.

However, when you think about it, it's a good job it never made it to production - The last thing we needed was a mini "Wedge "

My mates dad worked there in the early 80's and he knew it as Austin.

Obviously it was known, rightly or wrongly, by both names.
