Carpet/tiles query ??

Hi all after good advice last time thought i would try again,

After recently ripping out and redoing most of my hall/stairs/landing i now have only the flooring to solve. My query is this....

We want to have the stairs and the landing carpeted but the hallway is to be done in stone tiles the same as in the kitchen. Which needs to be done 1st, does the carpet get done 1st so the tiles hold the carpet back at the bottom stair or the other way round?

The tiles first otherwise you will get tile grout up the carpet but if you want to do it the other way round then you would need some plastic gauge or flat metal bar fixed to the stair & carpet to protect the carpet stain from grouting.
