I'm putting in a new ground floor bathroom and will need to run a waste pipe out for the toilet. The soil pipe outside is cast iron and goes all the way up to the roof. Is it possible to remove a section of it so I can splice in a PVC waste tee, rather than removing the whole thing and replacing with plastic? My worry is that it's not being supported only by the brackets that hole it to the house, so there will be a lot of downward weight if I cut into it. Could I somehow support it in place while I make the cuts?
