Hi, just want some thoughts on using cat5 cable for the hard wiring of a burglar alarm. I have a couple of boxes, plus I want to alarm my two sheds, prob about 10mtrs, if the cable is acceptable I would run it in conduits, whats you`re thoughts..

Better with alarm cable..... Ok if you are adding an expander on a bus line.... Cat 5 breaks quite easy on screw connectors ..

You wouldn't use coax for a light or phone cable for your tv.
