I got some CAT6 cable from a camera company.

While it worked ok for my computer, when I connect it between the Fibre ONT and Router, the router isn't happy.

I think the cable has some thicker wires (I assume to power a camera), and some thinner wires for data.
The wires aren't coloured blue with white tracer (for example), but dark blue and light blue etc.

I just wondered if this was a known issue, and I am being silly trying to use it for the main data supply to my router?

I have now ordered some Cat6a

If that’s the case ….its not cat6 …as it must meet the spec for it to be called cat6
