Cavity wall insulation.....

Hi All,

Yes, well, I started down the cavity route this time last year. Got a grant etc but had issues with just what would get done when they first came round. This was with Miller Patterson with grant via British Gas. Issues finally led to the job being cancelled, altough I don't know if the grant was as well!
I've got details here for this through Cavitytech Systems. Can I ask what companies people have used, and/or any good/bad comments etc?

Cheers,
Chris :)

Issues mainly due to lack of communication! When the surveyor came round he went through it all, mentioning that the air-bricks might have to be replaced. The first guys turned up in the wrong size van. The second ones were about to start when he mentioned about the airbricks being replaced by luvverly plastic ones. This was the first I knew of plastic being used which, considering the house is painted white, I wasn't happy with. He also showed me the airvents they'd install (because I had logburners) which were just 4" holes (sort of defeats the object of the insulation) so they went. They finally agreed to replace with proper airbricks & eventually agreed that I didn't need airvents, as the kw was under the regualtions for fitting. 3rd time they arrived without the appropriate roof ladder, so they went. Then I had calls to say they were onsite when I hadn't made an appointment. I just sort of got the feeling that things weren't meant to be, so we agreed to cancel the installation.

However, I'm still not sure that I shouldn't get it done, hence this post....! :?
