Hi,

Am I right in saying that getting a grant for cavity wall insulation is based on the earnings of those paying the bills and not the landlord?

If up to the landlord, how can I get this done in the cheapest way possible?

It's a mid-terraced three bedroom house build in 1965.

Thanks

LeeFoo, good evening.

There was a recent series of posts on this board about the older types of CWI [Cavity Wall Insulation] suggest you try to find that post, there is a search function at the top of the page??

The installation of this form of Insulation is at times contentious, the Installers are a bunch of Cowboys.

Bottom line is that depending on the so called "Exposure" of your home to wind will dictate as to whether or not CWI is advised or not?

Have a wee look at the following? [if you are looking for some Bedtime reading]

As for your original question?

The first section will give you some interesting information and may assist??

Thanks Ken. I don't think the place gets much wind conditions to be honest. The reason I was asking all this is because my tenants are complaining about a lot of condensation. I know most of this is down to their lifestyle but thought with CWI if the house is kept that bit warmer it may reduce the condensation to a certain degree. Initially, I thought what the heck, get it done anyway, especially if it's free but I'm now concerned about possible downsides to having it done?

Hmmmm?, just read the first link. Sounds pretty scary. Must admit, the whole idea of it makes me quite nervous now. Think I won't be suggesting this to my tenants in a hurry.
