Thanks for the reply. It seems that Dynamic are trade only as I can't geta price. Does anyone else supply to non trade customers. There also seem to be loads of DVr cctv systems on a well known auction site, although tempting Iwant to stay clear of the cheap imports and buy something of decnt quality . Any tips on buying a cctv system??

Is it not remote control driven. I was looking for something resembling a straight forward remote control rewind playback, like a dvd player.

yes available with remote but no one ever uses them as it far easier to use a mouse must have got about half a dozen remotes for dvrs kicking around as every one finds the mouse more easy and quicker

Sparky where are you based?

I bought a four channel DVR and it wasn't that long after buying it did I regret not getting a 8 channel type.
Do yourself a favour and really think about where you want your cameras and whether a four channel type would be enough to suit your needs.
The four channel that I bought has the ability to fit two HD's of up to 2TB each. It will record all four channels in D1 (this is a must really) and each channel at 25fps. It will also stream to a mobile device (like android) at CIF - I find that useful. It has lots of other features and works really well. I paid around £85 for it from ebay.
I then bought this one....

...it arrived in a few days and works perfectly well.

It can support up to 16 channels and record each of then in full D1 at 25fps. I have a 2TB HD fitted to it.

The cameras I bought were 600TVL Sony one third sensor types with variable focus and zoom...

I have since bought one of these....

and it arrived from china this morning and I have fitted it - it is very very good and well worth the money. In fact I have just ordered two more - you need to buy your own PSU though.

be very wary as the devil is in the detail with CCTV equipment. You can pay a lot of money for a DVR which can be very mediocre in its capability and performance. There are many dedicated CCTV sites which seem to offer such equipment, some at really expensive prices.

Look at the tutorials and FAQ's etc....

Spend time doing a lot of reading and picking up ideas etc and then read of the ones I linked to as a benchmark of their specification.

Thanks for the reply and thanks for the tip about D!. I didn't know about that before. What was the 8 channel one you bought as I can't seem to find an 8 channel that records all channels in D1. ,
I can see why you bought the 16 channel one as it looks really good value for money. Being 16 channel it looks like they have designed it to a higher specification that I cannot find an equivalent spec in an 8 channel. It might be better value to spend a few more quid and get a better machine, although my budget for the dvr was around 80-90 quid, without HDD,
