CD/DVD Rom drive not reading CD-roms

LG DVD/CD Combo reader not reading CD's, ok with DVD's, but not any type of CD's, can't relate it to any recent software changes, and no hardware conflicts. Any ideas anyone?
 
Yup, it's knackered.

Seriously, combos are less than £30. If you are really keen, cleaning the laser with some ipa and a lint free swap may revive it, but it's unlikely to last long
