Hi guys and gals,
Been asked to do a mates stairs/hall etc. However he has had a small extension, including ceiling which is white-silk painted, but has a effect he would like blend in.Can only describe as being like a "paint drip" only 5-6 mm in lenght from ceiling ,can anyone recommend a method to achieve this?My inital thought was to thicken 2nd coat with powdered filler or other and see if can create a drip effect. The area is only bout 2ft square, but would like to get a good match for him, never going to be identical i know.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a stipple effect, easy to recreate but not so easy to match up. Depends how thick or thin the original mix was. You can use a stipple pad to do this.

Robbie is exact on this but no two people will create the same stiple pattern, if the original is only 2 foot square why not scrape / steam it off and do the whole lot with your own unique stipple finish, good luck ;)

No the new area is 2ft square, but thanks for your suggestions,do you think thickening up paint will help any?Looked pretty thin artex also, presume this will help.

sorry ,misunderstood. maybe the original finish is a pre mixed Artex which is thinner and this will do the trick

Easiest way is to mix some artex, and put some an a scrappeice of plasterboard. Stipple it and see if it matches the ceiling, if its too spikey then its too thick, so thin it a little and do it again, then check again...and so on.
