Ceiling Edge Crack - Loose Plaster

Had artexed ceiling skimmed 2 years ago. On removing loose plaster from a crack along the ceiling edge (at joint with wall) I discovered an area of broken loose plaster pieces rattling around in the original ceiling.

What should I do to mend it? I don't want to remove the loose pieces as there is nothing above them! Should I buy some scrim tape and build up over it?

Sorry, I only have a 'dumphone' (and an even older camera!). Tried using plasterer's tape (with no success), so have just built up layers of filler and will be overpainting with 'no cracks' ceiling paint...
