Ceiling fan needs a push to start

Good day folks! I have a ceiling fan that stopped rotating. It needed a push to start to start then it would eventually stop.
I disassembled tue unit and although the capacity”looked” ok I changed it out.
Fan still has the same issue. The blades move freely.

Could need lubrication or maybe at end of life.

I’m thinking lubrication now. Apparently the fan sat in a box for 10 years before I inherited it

Was it "in use" before it "sat" in the box?
If so, any grease in it has "set".

Take it apart and clean it and the bearings.
If that does not fix the problem, replace it.

OR just get a push to start stick
