hi there, I've recently bought myself a 30kg punch bag.

is it ok to hang this on my ceiling joists? (upstairs)

could the use of the bag damage the joists?

help please

btw, a wall bracket won't work as the walls are plasterboard

roof ceiling joists are usually rather small and potentially weak.

you may be better off entering the loft and fixing a batten that spans maybe 3 joists, then fix the punch bag to the batten.

the closer you can fix to the joist end bearing the better.

ok thanks for the help

if I do it that way though, the bag will be too high and if I use extra chain to lengthen it, it will be too swingy if u know what i mean.

this is the plate I will use

can I span the extra timber over 4 joists in the attic, then span another piece over 2 joists in the bedroom ceiling, and then fit this hook centre on to the bedroom timber?

No worries now :)

Got it hanging between the door (on chinup bar).

I figuired door frames are easier to replace than ceiling beams
