Hey all.
Another project I am undertaking At the moment is ripping out the chimney breast in my daughters bedroom, fitted wardrobes and a brick doorway that was within one of the wardrobes over the stairs.
Now that the wardrobes are down and the chimney is out. We have different levels in the ceiling, when we moved in the ceiling was a woodchip cracked mess so I overboard and re-skimmed up to the edge of the wardrobes, obviously with the wardrobes out the ceiling is now missing circa 15mm from board and skim.
i’m looking for advice on whether or not I should and a sheet of plasterboard and bond up to current ceiling height then re-skim the full ceiling or should I rip the lot down reboard and skim?.
The whole reason I didn’t do that in the first place was because this original house installation is like blown polystyrene pieces. Billions of them. I have however added 200 mm of wool insulation in the loft
By pulling the ceiling down that will actually aid the installation of new downlights but be a total mess.
I suppose another consideration should be the weight?
also I’m considering knocking the plaster off back to brick and Dot n dabbing, what are your thoughts on that? On the chimney breast wall and wardrobe wall only do two walls are sound
advice please boys and girls.
