Hi folks, ive just changed a couple of ceiling lights from 3 arm lamps to standard ceiling pendants.

Ive wired the first lamp fine, it has 3 sets of 3 wires coming into it, ive wired the switch wire red to loop black to brown and earth to earth, ive put the feed red to loop black to black terminals and earth to earth, and the last set is to the next light in the same room, earth to earth, red to loop and black to black terminals.

All works fine on that light.

The second light in the room has just one set of 3 core cable into it, standard red black and earth, ive put earth to earth, black to brown and red to blue, the lamp wont switch off though?

Flicking the switch turns the first on and off fine but the second lamp stays on.

What am i doing wrong?!

the bit in bold is your fault..
the red to the second light should go to the switch wire of the first, not the loop..
the loop is a permanent live.. hence why the light won't switch off..

The red core live to the 2nd light is connected to the permant live from the 1st light, it needs to be reterminated to the same position as the switched live at the 1st light.

In simple terms the wiring for the 2nd light should mirror the terminations that the live and neutral cord flex on the 1st light are on.
