Normally with a wall switch (metal back box) you run the earth(s) into the back box, then to switch if metal as well.

If you have a ceiling pull cord, which is plastic and uses a plastic back box (so no earth termination point), what do you do with the earth?

Use 2 core cable to the switch or run the earth from T+E to somewhere else? Or neither?

Basically this http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/2750/jblp4.gif without the earth point in the switch.

This is the switch - http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MK3131.html and back box is like this http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Images/Products/size_3/MTMDLB6.JPG

If only one cable, put earth sleeve over the earth to prevent it touching anything.

or terminate it into a connector block

Some back boxes have a terminal for earth, but if it doesn't then sleeve with green/yellow fit a choc bloc and tuck back. DO NOT CUT THE CONDUCTOR BACK

DAMN too slow :(

That's what I've done (sleeve and connector block), but it doesn't seem right to me.

I have no rationale for why it doesn't seem right though!

All the pull cord switches I have ever fitted have had an earth terminal to park the conductor.

EDIT... Sorry. Looked at the MK switch but did not realise you were flush mounting it.

There are some drylining boxes (can't remember brand names) that have earth terminals in them. Or, you can fit them. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with sleeving the cpc and terminating it in a connector.

As mentioned in previous posts, generally you will find an earth terminal on the plastic surface mounted boxes and sometimes on the switch plate but sometimes not. The import thing is that the earth/CPC(circuit protective conductor) is kept and continuity remains intact. So as previous posts advise, the earth/CPC should be sleeved to identify it (green and yellow) and terminated into a connector if non available on fitting/box. This connection should be contained within the enclosure of the backbox/Pattress.
