Hi,

I had a go at laying porcelain paving slab, big 900x600. After a few slabs I realised my mucky prints from manhandling them into place and to level, were not coming off.
We had a go with water and brush, then bicarbonate of soda with a scrub. They still look like the photo shows. Being black slabs, the marks really stand out.

Any tips on how to get the marks off?

Also any tips on laying the remaining large slabs without getting them mucky?
I’m surprised this isn’t declared in big red writing that you must not get cement/mortar on the face of the slabs. In fact I’m amazed they’re so popular if they’re so liable to getting marked.

Thinking I probably need to have an expert in.

Or, grout statin remover from your local tile shop. I use it on slate tiles as the cement based grout stains, I've also had to use it black porcelain bathroom tiles. After cleaning I'd be very tempted to apply a sealer from the same source.

Try a Slab Lifter. Not an expensive tool, may help you:

I also recommend brick acid, use an old toothbrush to scrub the stains, will lift much quicker that way, and dont forget to wash off the tiles and yourself afterwards.
