Just had an extension completed and the builder wasnt the neetest of blokes!.There is some unsightly splatter on the new brickwork,i have tried using acid from the local builders merchants and it hasnt really shifted it ,the instructions say to use a wire brush but i am worried about damaging the new bricks?.any other ideas ? thanks :(

Acid will struggle to move really heavy stuff. You could try loosening the surface of the cement by tapping it gently with a hammer. The acid might then have a better chance.

Also, the acid in DIY stores today is very weak stuff. I have half a gallon of acid in my garage which I've had for 15 years or so and that would dissolve the wall if you left it on long enough.
