Is this garage part of the house, or an outbuilding?
Does it incorporate a DPM?
How old is it?
How smooth is it?
What has happened that means you need to skim it?

detached garage
no DPM
floor solid, breaking up in the odd places(jack use)
patched up over the years but base is sound
Dont use it for mechanics anymore
hoping to skim without it cracking, that is my main concern, only going to be used for parking and the odd repair, would like to have a nice smooth surface

many thanks Terry

As I`ve heard, the min. concrete is 2 inches..same for sand/cement screed........ I would consider filling the holes with special patching compound and giving the whole floor a coat of epoxy floor paint  You could run it past the guys on the tiling forum
