Central Heating Corrosion Test

I doubt John506 is interested any longer, the original post was two years ago.

To test the central heating water take 2 jam jars and fill 1 with mains tap
water and the other with water from the C.H. system via the drain cock.
put some pieces of copper pipe or tape into each jar and some nails.
replace the lid. After one week examine both jars.I did this test and found
that tap water was very rusty. The C.H.water containing FERNOX which
had been in just over one year was clear.
