hi folks,

i'm new here and not at all experienced with electrics so my apologies for using dummy language. my rcd is being tripped by the central heating so i'm without heating or hot water.

yesterday, i spilled some water in the upstairs bathroom which may have leaked under the floor and down to the boiler area. however, i'm unsure if this is the source of the problem as, when i lifted the bathroom linoleum, a wet ring had formed underneath the sink which must have been there already. i suppose it is possible that neither of these problems have been responsible for the trip but as i'm a complete rookie, i'm unsure.

could anyone advise who i should call out? central heating engineer? plumber? electrician?? i have a 7 day old baby in the house so need to get this one sorted sooner rather than later.

regards,
Alex

I think you need to start with an electrician to isolate what exactly is causing the rcd to trip.

Start with switching off the heating system, it should have a switched fused connection unit.
Once switched off, try resetting the trip, if it resets OK then it is the heating system and best to call out the Electrician.
