All heating has a problem with hysteresis, there are many ways to try to stop this, from little heaters in the wall thermostat, to using a mark/space ratio.
But today they tend to use algarithums, with claims they work out how long it takes to heat the room, so start heating the room before time set so at temperature on time. I know Nest Gen 3 and the Drayton Wiser TRV's claim to do this.
However since I use oil fired boiler, which does not modulate, and my home takes a long time to heat, the anti hysteresis only increases the time it takes to heat the house.
