Last night long after the CH clock had turned off the radiators were still very hot. I turned the dial on the boiler to zero and eventually they cooled down. The boiler's a Potterton Flamingo 50 - does anyone have any idea why this might have happened?
Presume you have S-plan configuration? Two zone valves rather than one 3-port valve, probably the CH zone valve sticking open. If so remove the head and free the valve spindle, checking that the valve actuator opens and closes in response to the CH on/CH off signals.
Usually actuators are spring return, some of the older Sunvics are motor drive open & close, so if the valve spindle appears free, check out the actuator.
