hello,,,the cold weather has arrived so tried to fire my chaff up but she wont have it,,,hot water is working fine but central heating will not fire up,,,fan and pump running fine,,,things ive tried upto now,,,swapping the flow switches around and with two spare ones,,,swapped the diverter valve with two spare ones,,,the one that was in was barely two years old anyway,,,checked the expansion tank pressure 6.5 psi,,,took the flexi hose off pressure tank ,no blockage,,,the only thing I haven't tried is totally changing the pcb panel,,,i have a spare one,,,boiler has been holding pressure no problem,,,any ideas anybody???

also forgot to mention ive also took the gauze filter out the heating return pipe and cleaned it,,,,not that it was blocked anyway but just saying as that is a common fault that stops them firing as ive found out in the past...

can anyone think of anything I'm missing that could be stopping it from firing on central heating???

Have you checked the thermostat - assuming it's an external one of course. What's the system pressure. Have you losened the automatic bleed valve, and the nut on the front of the pump to check it completely.

there is no thermostat mate,,,ye just turn the boiler on at the boiler when ye want it on,,,ive had the pressure above 1 m millibar today when tryin it,,,i didn't take the nut out the pump,,,i shall tomorrow,,,i could hear it whirring and felt it vibrating so assumed it was working,,,i noticed on the automatic air vent the plastic nipple had been tightened right on by the last person who had there hands on it,,,when I opened it it was constantly leaking water,,,ive oredered another one,,,could anything be making it leak like a pressure build op because of a blockage or maybe its just old???,,,the boilers been holding pressure ok,,,theres been no overheating and dumpin water etc...

Sorry, this one's beyond me. The hot water works, and the pressures basically okay (you could try raising it by half a bar) and the pumps running, but the boilers not lighting, yet the hot water works, so what is it that's holding the heating back. I take it there are no fault lights coming on, and the clock and controls are set properly, and you've got a copy of the manual.

shes fixed thank god,,,changes the whole circuit board front panel today and its working perfect again,,,one thing I noticed after the new panel was fitted I could hear the sparking quite loud and don't think I could hear it when it wasn't working???,,,I just assumed the sparker generator in the old electrics panel must have been ok as it was firing up in dhw mode,,,???,,,are the hot water and heating set on different sparking sequences or something???,,,anybody???

The sparking circuit should be the same, so it's possible that the thermistors or something else related to the heating circuit weren't being recognised on the old board.
