    Hi,

I have a problem with my Chaffoteaux & Maury boiler MX2 30 FF. IT stopped working last night flashing 70 & 80. Reset made on difference, switching off made no difference. So we called the AA to fix it.

They came out of stated the following:
"No fault found. Cleaned fan + pressure switch + electrode, tested hot water + heating many times. Left fully operational."

However I came home from work and the boiler had stopped again with the same error.

I switched the boiler off for a minute or so and it came on again for a few minutes then errored.

Any ideas as I dont want to pay another £150 call out charge as our boiler cover will not start for 14 days.

    Thanks
    Terry

If I got the AA out again, as they fitted no parts I would be charged for the time spent investigation further. Money I just don't have :(

So I thought i'd take a quick look to see if it was something simple. Took the front of the boiler and noticed that the ignition isn't sparking.

Followed the cable from the spark end to where they are connected. The connections are he car stereo type connection (Crimp Terminal - 'Lucar').

I removed and re-seated these connections a number of times on both wires, Boiler started first time without and hasn't gone off yet. Granted only 30 minutes but better than earlier.

If this resolves the issue i'll kick myself for calling someone out for such an easy fix, not just that but they didn't spot the issue.

Hopefully if/when the boiler breaks again my cover will have started so I wont get charged.

    Fingers crossed.
