Hi There

We are changing the socket fronts to chrome ones and what we thought was a straight forward job has confused us slightly.

1st Socket has 1 live, 1 neutral 2 earth - Simple enough the new front has terminals for 1 live 1 neutral and 2 earth.

However the next sockets have:

2nd - 2 live, 2 neutral, 3 earth
3rd - 3 live, 3 neutral, 4 earth.

So do we put all the live in the live terminal, all the neutral in neutral terminal and split the earth between to 2 earth terminals?

Thanks in advance

That would be fine. Though next time, note down what was there, before you disconnect it!

If you look you will see the earth terminals are inter linked, so either or all (an earth terminal will handle 3+ earths without hassle).

If the units are flate plate sockets, make sure the cables are as far back in the box as possible. The flate plates have more body behind them, as in that needs to sit inside the back box, so cables can cause congestion.

Also make sure all the terminals are 'proper' tight and do a tug test to make sure they stay in.
