Changing taps - earth bonding?

I am about to change the taps on a bathroom sink - the copper piping is connected to the taps by a Yorkshire joint. I am planning to cut the pie low down and connect the taps via a flexible joint (maybe push-fit onto the cut pipe)

My question is, firstly, to unscrew the tap joint will the solder just 'give way' when I apply pressure?

Secondly will I need to earth the new connection? If so, how?

As you may have guessed, I am new to this, so would appreciate any help.

There will be no solder at the tap joint. Unscrew it and cut the pipe approx 6 inches below.
Fit a flexi hose (pushfit if you are diy) and screw onto tap.
With the earthing your pipes should be crossbonded correctly (i.e stop tap , hot and cold,sink, and gas) so this will not be needed.
However if not get a sparky to do it Asap

Thanks BAHCO - I can only get min 30cm flexi pipes - does it make any difference that there will be a lot of 'flexing', i.e. 30cm pipe fitting into a 15cm gap?

Flexing may make a difference by cutting flow.
Cut your pipe to suit length of flexi (6 ins was only a guide) and connect on ensuring no kinks in flexi
