Changing the colour of pine

I have just bought an Alpine Chalet which is over 100 years old but the interior has had a refit so the pine is all new. To avoid feeling like I am in a sauna I would like to age the pine, any ideas how to do this? The floors and ceiling beams are already dark so it is just the walls. Thanks

Antique pine wood dye, mixed with Danish oil [can be purchased ready mixed].

Give the woodwork a good thrashing with an old chain for a random distressing

Thrashing with a chain? you mean just fling the chain around knocking the wood?

try washing it with soda crystals dissolved in water - quite a strong mix and test on a scrap piece first. Whe I say wash, I mean mix up soloution in bucket and brush it on liberally then wipe surpus off with kitchen towel so there are no wipe marks then let dry. It should darken the wood but I cant remember to which tone

You can mix wood dye with danish oil if you avoid the new water based dyes.
