Hello all, I'm after some advice on what is allowed. We are having a downstairs cloakroom built which involves losing part of our kitchen, and one of the pair of two way light switches. The problem is the switch we lose is the one where the loop and live come from the light fitting.

Is it permissible to remove the switch connect the wiring and cover up with a blanking plate thereby using the remaining two way switch as a single way switch?

Or would I have to run new cabling from the light fixture to the remaining light switch?

New cabling would mean the kitchen ceiling would need to come down as theres no easy access from upstairs, but if it has to be done it has to be done.

As long as the blanking plate remains visible/accessible and can be removed to allow testing and inspection you can do as you suggest.
