Hello,

a closer inspection of my water tank yesterday to my big shock revealed the following charcoaling (see picture) which the previous owners had skillfully covered up ...
Does anyone know what might have happened here and whet needs to be done / can be done? Many thanks for any help.

Nothing to worry about it just when boss had to be heated to remove old immersion heater unsightly but, no harm will come of it

Probably heated the element to loosen it when it was last changed.

Wouldn't think it has damaed the cylinder but worth getting a plumber to check.

The insulation won't be as good though. :(

Thanks for your replies! So it looks much worse than it is .. ! phew. I feel quite relieved, was starting to see myself getting charcoaled whilst in my sleep!

But has the insulation been damaged? And could that be 'repaired'? Or can I just leave it as is (and stop worrying)?
Thanks again.
