Cheap Compressor

I need to get a cheap compressor which will be used purely for DIY - inflation, dust blowing, and the odd bit of fence panel spraying.

I was wondering what the difference between 1.5hp and 2.0hp machines was in practice.

Looking for a 24L model, and wondered about the advantages/disadvantages of the following:

I already have the air tools that I need, so that is not an issue.

I'd always go for a piston compressor, and out of those I'd choose the Machine Mart 2hp one.....better for a quick tank refill.
It wont drive air tools, but great for tyre inflation and blow cleaning jobs.
Its not for continuous duty so paint spraying at high volume would be an issue.

A basic question then.

Unless stated, how do I know which machines are piston ones?

Also oil vs oil free - which is best for the jobs I've mentioned?

So far as I can see, the compressors are all oil free (diaphragm pump) types apart from the 2hp Machine Mart one.....this has a piston pump and therefore have oil in a sump. This is no big deal unless you are spraying car type paint, where you would use a water and oil separator anyway.
The piston compressors are noisier than the others, but they do fill the receiver tank up quicker. All the commercial compressors are piston ones unless noise is an issue.
For what you envisage, any of those would do, but for fence spraying I would probably use an electric sprayer anyway.
All the compressors will supply 100 psi or more, and the air supply depends on the size of the receiver tank, really.

Noise is no issue since the compressor will be in a small shed that feeds into my main shed via copper pipe.
