I have now found the useful limit of my Hunter 55 (Clarke, 2.5HP direct drive 50 litre) compressor and considering upgrading to something quieter! So that'll be a belt-drive job. Axminster seem to have a keenly priced unit though it's "only" an 8 bar unit http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-air-awbd30100-compressor I also came across this cheapie brand "Wolf Air" whose main website is a TV shopping channel. http://www.ukhs.tv/Workshop/Air-Com...essor-150-litre-Air-receiver-MWP-150psi-10BAR You get "a lot" of compressor for ya money, but is it a case of buy cheap buy twice - does anyone have any experience with this brand? I'll expect some bits to break on it, or need re-engineering but for the saving it's likely worth it providing none of the big ticket items need replacing. Machine Mart have issued me with a 15% off token, so their prices are a little more comparable.

Has anyone out there figured out the actual difference between all the machine mart compressor ranges? It looks like a load of duplication to me.

If you want to cut out the Chinese crap then go for Ingersoll Rand.
Something like the "Garage Mate".

It really does depend on what you need it for.....if its for windy tools, 14 CFM, 100 litre tank and 3HP motor is for you.
Your air line needs to be a minimum of 10mm internal diameter too.
At least with Machine Mart, you can get spares and accessories etc.
John :)
