Cheapest way to cook with Electric

What have you found is the cheapest appliance to use that uses the least amount of electric when cooking?

No gas available so has to be electric

I see some swear by Air Fryers, others, Slow Cookers and then there are pressure cookers!!

Would be used for different meat cuts, bacon, eggs.......On a Carnivor diet at the moment. Trialing it for a few months. Not to lose weight. Just for health reasons. So, won't be cooking cakes or making bread for now.

Microwave cooker; but it's not suitable for all foodstuffs.

Air fryer is just a small oven but that makes it less to heat up and must be more efficient. Can cook most things in it and much nicer result than microwave. A camping stove with some gas bottles for frying

I went keto which was pretty much carnivore plus eggs, dairy, nuts, seeds, some greens and I lost loads of weight and feel about 10 years younger. Cutting out seed oils seems a big benefit but basically all processed foods are off the menu so has to be good. Carnivore for a couple of months to clear the system and then reintroducing a few things gradually seems a great way to figure out what food is making us ill.

Any advice much appreciated as I am looking to save money. Living in a shared house at the moment. May be a possibility of me getting a council flat after being on their waiting list for 5 years!!!!!

The flat only has elec for cooking. Not seen the place yet. Just trying to think of a decent elec appliance I can use rather than a hob and cooker to save money.

Monthly budget will be tight. I am working p/time at mo but may have to jack that in due to really bad back. 5 years until retirement. Would be living off of savings if that happens so need to budget wisely...

Any advice be great guys. Ta

We got a Ninja air fryer and it seems to be the best make these days. If you scan amazon for a used one it is usually just open box so its actually new and often half price. Even used-acceptable is usually actually just new open box.

But won't it already have a cooker? if its a shared house do you share the kitchen? if so how to they know who used what electric? I'd get more info before buying anything

Let's say you just use a 1kW Microwave to cook and it gets run for an hour a day total. That's about 30-40p of electricity depending on tariff. Air fryers are in the region of 1.5kW, so an hour of cooking is 45-60p. (Probably less as the element wouldn't be running full tilt)

The difference isn't big at all, the food you're eating makes a huge difference. Im guessing you're planning on a lot of chicken? If so buy whole ones and section them yourself, it saves a lot of money.
