chimney & heat loss

hi

we have an open fireplace in our lounge which we dont use. during winter a cold breeze constantly comes down it. i want to stop that this year. Ive heard about balloons that block the chimney are these a good idea? is there another solution i should be using?

A balloon or a cowl should do the trick. You could also set it and light it.

you can block it with loft insulation as well
