Chimney insulation

Hi, we have a small fireplace in our kitchen an want to plasterboard it up with a small vent. But can anyone advise how to best insulate the chimney space - is it just a case of adding in some rockwool and leave a small bit of space for air to get up and down? Previously we'd had a balloon draught excluder but just keeps slipping down.. thanks

Stick a C Cap on the pot. I'd run a short bit of overflow pipe up the flue and ram rockwool around it. Small vent on the plasterboard.
