Chimney liner

Hi all

When moving into our house there was no fire but the surround was still in place and the back panel was solid with no cutout. Having cut a hole we have found a liner which extends to the floor of the inner chimney. I have had the liner inspected and swept but wondered how this would work with our class1 fire we want to fit. The liner seems to be 4”

Does the liner need cutting back to a register plate or will it need removing?

Will be a gas fire, it’s a gazco logic he

For a gas fire you really need the advice of a Gas Safe fitter.
