I am planning on converting my loft, but would like to remove the top part of the chimney to maximise space.

Would this be too much of a structural job and not worth the hassle and is planning permission required?

Well if you mean the chimney from the roof and the loft I would imagine no building regs required since there's no weight to support but obviously couldn't be just the loft cus no way of supporting that weight diagonally right

I don't think it's too structural just a case of destroying and retiling

If it's on a party wall and shared with next door, you would need to think about keeping the stack above roof level too, of course.
