I do not have any working chimneys in my house. There is a stack above roof and in loft.

1. Bricks are blown and spalling. Should I get the whole stack rendered or just replace the spalling bricks with staff blue. What mix should the guy be using.

2. There are pots above chimney. As I do not have working chimney,do I remove the pots and get the base rendered or just cap them. What is used for if pots are removed. Is the base rendered or a concrete slab is used. What about breathability.I do not want issues again for another 10-15 years or longer.
Thanks.

Is it a shared stack or solely your property?

If it's just yours then have it removed to below roofline

It is for my sole property, but for some reason sity beyond the party wall. The width of stack is 2 bricks wide.

Any views why this chimney stack is 2 bricks wide. It has 4 pots, only serves my house. Party wall is 215 mm wide solid. Were they made this way. Neighbour does not have chimney on this side, but bathroom and stairs. Its 1930 house.

Worth a chat with the neighbour to see if you can agree to have it removed below roofline then
