Chimney

Hello,
I have a fireplace in my lounge. Its boarded up and has an old disconnected gas fire in there (old student house). I want to rip out the gas fire and use an open fire again. Who should I get to check the chimney? A chimney sweep or some sort of surveyor?

he's likely to be less expensive and may know what he's talking about.

A local sweep will also know local people who repair cracked chimneys, supply firebacks etc (you may have had the old bits pulled out when it was turned into a gas fire.)
