Parked in a customers car park last week and a gust of wind blew a gate into my van, hardly any damage apart from a chip the size of a pinhead but really obvious , looked at repair pens etc but not sure about them any advice appreciated

Most body shops employ a Chipsaway firm to sort out damage such as yours.....worth a call if you want it fixed. Ive used them to excellent effect.
John :)

The local Chipsaway man used to work with a tiny spraygun, then buff the surface flat. More recently the new ones have used a paintbrush which isn't as good.

Do they all do that?

Depending on colour try touching it up using the tip of a cocktail stick to apply paint, not the brush from touch up paint stick.
