What thickness of chipboard flooring is typically used? The 18mm or the 22mm?

mostly 18 but chipboard flooring is rubbish.

put down WBP ply. It is stronger, quieter, and won't turn to mush if it gets damp. Nor will it give way under heavy use, or crack at the bottom of the stairs, under the cooker or in front of the sink.

If the joist spacing is more than 450mm centres, then use 22mm
