Circular saw motor sparking

I got a MacAllister MSCS 1500 circular saw a month ago. Used it a few times. Now I'm getting sparks from the motor. Not the usual little sparks you get from motor brushes; these are serious sparks and they come with a hollow popping sound.

I had thought MacAllister was a good brand.
Has anyone else had this?
