Circulation Pump

Hi,

I have been hearing strange noises coming from my circulation pump.
However when I turn the dial on the pump down from 3 to 2 it stops.
My question (as a newbie) is what do the dial on my pump represent and is it safe to keep it on 2 rather than 3 which it has been ever since I moved into my house?

I would appreciate any help

hello and welcome aboard "sounds" the "dial" changes the speed at which the pump runs and yes it is safe, but it may be (only may be) on its way out
