Hi all

I have 8 rows of clay tiles hanging vertically above a bay window (rather than on the roof at an angle). One of the bottom ones has slipped and is threatening to fall out.

Can anyone advise how a) it is actually fixed (is their a baton behind or something) and b) how I could re-nail it given that the other tiles above are covering it up! I need a trade secret I think!!

cheers

If it is a tile with a ridge on the back then you would need to get a replacement then it would just be pushed up until it drops behind the lath.

thanks - i checked and it is just a flat tile with no ridge - I tried pushing it back up to no avail :(

I thought you were going to say that. :) You will probably have to use the same method used with slates. Use a copper wire nailed to the lath then slide the tile into place and then bend the looped wire up to secure the tile in place to prvent it slipping back down.
