Cleaning a shower trap

Hi Guys,

We have a clogged shower trap. Have Googled around and can see the common cartridge style ones but haven't come across any like the one we have. It doesn't seem obvious how to remove the internals of the trap. I've attached a photo. I thought about removing the two screws in the top ring but am worried that all that would happen is the trap would just drop out.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Wirquin trap. Problematic, as many results on the internet show.

may be best to replace with something easier to maintain, eg mcalpine

Thank you! General concensus does seem to be chuck it out and fit a mcalpine... Appreciate the info!
 
As an aside, from the image, it looks like the silicone seal may have separated from the shower tray.
I hadn't noticed that, thank you! New house so will add it to the urgent section of the ever growing list :)
